Everyone Wants a Home Run

In baseball, sometimes a hit is just as good as a home run. The same applies to your business.

Everybody wants a home run ⚾↗️

👀 Here's the situation. Bottom of the final inning. Ba

ses loaded. Down by one run. My son comes up to bat and my heart is racing like I just finished chugging three cold brews. I can't even imagine how he's feeling.

✅ Did I want to see him be a hero and hit a grand slam? Of course!

☑️ Did we need that? Not really.

Everyone wants the home run. The big win. The unicorn ad that drives 100X ROAS for the next 12 monts. The product launch that customers have been aching for and sells out within five minutes. But it's not the norm.

🦄 But Liquid Death did it. Dr Squatch did it.

And you will, too. Eventually.

😓 But what you probably didn't see were a ton of swings and misses before they finally ripped one over the left field fence.

What I love about baseball is that you can do everything right -- practice hard every day, perfect your swing, throw 90+ MPH -- and it still might not be your day.

But the people who DO do things right will keep getting incrementally better. Small wins turn into huge ones. So keep dialing those campaigns, creative testing, email flows, website CRO, etc. Not every swing is going to make you an extra $1MM. But they'll get you closer to your goal.

Trust the process.

💥 And every now and then, with the hard work you've put in, you'll get that home run.

So what happened in the baseball game? Well, as you can see my son got an RBI fielder's choice, tying the game 1-1. And then the next batter stood in, hit a single, and walked off a hero. We win 2-1.

🤩 Was this a good metaphor for business? I think so. Did I also just want to brag about my awesome son? Absolutely.
